Dear Maude The Dear Maude Trilogy Book 1 edition by Denise Liebig Literature Fiction eBooks
This is an absolutely wonderful read, especially considering it is a debut novel from Liebig. I initially thought I was reading just a well-written, enjoyable chick-lit, but when the time-travel thingie kicked in, I was blown away. No more on that, though, so I don't give away too much of the plot.I thoroughly enjoyed the many time-travel paradoxes the author took the time to explore. The characters are well-developed and fascinating, especially the lead character Emily. What a fun, exciting read that I can highly recommend. I can't wait to read books 2 & 3 now, in this enthralling series. Great work!

Dear Maude The Dear Maude Trilogy Book 1 edition by Denise Liebig Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
What an imagination the author has. I started book one then about half way thru I ordered the other 2 as I was sure I would want to know how it ended. AND I did. It seemed a little hard to follow at times but it all got cleared up at the end. This was a perfect trilogy to read as we had a huge snow storm and it kept me sneaking away to read a few more pages.
I don't think you will be disappointed if you buy all three and follow the characters all the way to the conclusion. I loved Shane, Dell, Johann, Frederich. And especially Maude. You will know what I mean when you read this.
In 2012, Emily Stanton's living situation at college is an interesting one. Laced with hidden mystery, Emily has a four-year scholarship. Her roommate is a wealthy school girl named Sophia. Emily is a smart student who loves her parents, and she has the natural ability to get good grades. The terms of her scholarship state that after she graduates, she must work for the mysterious company, Evergreen Research Corporation. Before graduating, Sophia introduces Emily to Gerd as well as Sophia's father named George, the prestigious yet deceptive Lord Winston. Every now and then, Emily writes in a journal to her deceased aunt named Maude because while Maude was alive, Emily adored her. (Maude had died when Emily was fifteen.) The story is filled with charm, 1910 waltzes, beautiful gowns, wealthy balls, tender loving romance, social etiquette, mystery from 2125, and a touch of humor. About half way through the book, time travel becomes more entertaining. A super ending brings it all together.
Denise Liebig gives excellent detail for each scene in first person narrative. She does a very good job keeping the reader in mind while unfolding the story. The pacing and rhythm is just right. Beautifully written, this story brings time travel to life. Denise knows how to keep the mystery going. This story is elegant and entertaining.
I grabbed this because I "USED TO" love time travel stories. But it seems I can't buy anything I can enjoy anymore. I should have ignored this series book like I usually do (PLEASE write A STORY, in ONE book, thank you, and STOP the "must buy more" game!) but I've been DESPERATE to find something I can like...
Sorry, but I read 14 pages and I can't stand these two women! They're everything that gives women a bad name now. Sophia presents as a useless, abusive, complaining "entitled" witch and Emily(?) seems to be enabling it? Then she suddenly makes demands for her "enabling" such a useless annoying person...by asking to meet Sophia's father? How bizarre...why?
While I can appreciate some decent formatting (left justified instead of BAD fully justified with it's ugly huge spaces, etc) and what appears to be unusually competent writing (actually encountered no errors in those pages, that I recall...what a shock for an ebook in my experience!), I don't want to read about people who turn me off, who I dislike, even if some story may develop that's interesting. How many other irritating characters will I encounter?
Not even for free...deleting from my kindle AND my cloud...not wasting my time being annoyed.
Denise Liebig tells a fascinating time travel story in this first of three books in the “Dear Maude” trilogy. “Dear Maude” is followed in the series by "For the Love of Maude" and "Forever Maude." Emily Stanton is a college student who owes her scholarship to a company involved in time travel research. There’s a lot of romance here of the innocent sort and much of it is a little too naive and juvenile for my taste but that seems to be the trend in TT stories today. The mushier the better. Of course, since much of the mushiness is being recorded in a diary to Emily’s Aunt Maude, who died when her niece was a teenager, it’s second-hand mushiness, so to speak, but still a little too much and disconcerting for many male readers, I would suspect. But the book is too well written, the TT concept so original, that one shouldn’t complain about these minor matters. I haven’t decided yet if I will follow up the first book of the trilogy with a reading of the second and third entries but I probably will after a short “hiatus" from the storyline. From a long time TT fan I say, well done, Ms. Liebig, well done.
Dear Maude is the first installment of The Dear Maude Trilogy. It starts with the main character, Emily, a diligent college student receiving a full scholarship from a company on condition that she works for that company for four years after graduation. However, the nature of her work had never been clearly defined.
The setup of the story is creative and well thought out. The story line is captivating and engaging right from the first line. Then, the plot turns and twists once the time travel theme emerges. The entire story is written in the first-person narrative. The main character’s frequent internal dialogs are refreshing and brilliant, funny at times.
Besides time travel, the story encompasses heart-wrenching romance, endearing family love and suspense. Ms. Liebig carefully crafts all aspects of the story. It’s safe to say it is a superb multi-genre novel, a masterpiece that well deserves five stars.
This is an absolutely wonderful read, especially considering it is a debut novel from Liebig. I initially thought I was reading just a well-written, enjoyable chick-lit, but when the time-travel thingie kicked in, I was blown away. No more on that, though, so I don't give away too much of the plot.
I thoroughly enjoyed the many time-travel paradoxes the author took the time to explore. The characters are well-developed and fascinating, especially the lead character Emily.
